A ceasefire deal has been agreed between Israel and Hamas, which is due to come into effect on 19/01/25.
Israel's security cabinet will vote on whether to ratify the deal today, with a number of cabinet members threatening to resign if the ceasefire goes ahead.

Syrian rebel forces launched the largest offensive against the Syrian government in years on Wednesday (27/11/24).
By Sunday (01/12/24), they had taken control of "large parts" of the country's second-biggest city, Aleppo and were advancing towards Hama in the south.

US kills Islamic State leader in Syria
The US says it has killed Islamic State (IS) leader Abu Yusif in Syria. US Central Command Forces (Centcom) said it carried out an airstrike targeting Yusif in the east of the country.
Another IS operative was also killed in the strike, according to US officials.
